| Protesting Matches Officiated by an Unregistered Referee |
| Under BCSA regulations, the result of matches officiated by an unregistered referee may be protested by either a coach or team official. |
More Details
The regulations of the British Columbia Soccer Association (BCSA) require all referees in British Columbia to register with the Association every year and that matches played under the jurisdiction of an affiliated district, club or league be officiated by a properly registered referee*. Under BCSA regulations, the result of matches officiated by an unregistered referee may be protested by either a coach or team official.
Properly registered referees may be identified by the referee badge they display on the chest of their uniform (see picture). For the coming season the badge shown to the right will display the year 2006-2007 in the panel at the top of the badge.
Please note that all Registered Coastal Referees should have the current year's badge by November 1, 2006 and all Registered Interior Referees should have the current year's badge by June 1, 2007.
* Rule 18 d) No person shall officiate as a referee in any competition under the sanction or jurisdiction of the Association who is not on the official list of the Association, but if for unforeseen circumstances a referee on the official list is unable to act, the teams affected shall agree on some other person in the emergency.
