EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
  

The British Columbia Soccer Association which was founded in 1907 and has over 120,000 registered players, over 8500 coaches, and approximately 2000 registered referees, is seeking one full time Member Programs & Events Coordinator to join the British Columbia Soccer Association.

 

Position Responsibilities - General

The Member Programs and Events Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management of all Member Programs and Events activities of the organization, including education (coaching and referee clinics), programs and resources, events and special initiatives.

ATTENTION COACHES
 
The Coaching Association of Canada has recently announced that the General Motors Making Dreams Possible club coaching grant and high performance coach grant applications is now back online.
 
This program is designed to support athletes at all levels through coaching excellence, General Motors’ Making Dreams Possible Program provides one hundred $2,000 club coaching grants and ten $10,000 high performance coach grants to community sport clubs and high performance coaches nationwide on an annual basis.

REMINDER TO ALL BCSA REGISTERED REFEREES
As of August 1, 2007 the British Columbia Soccer Association has implemented in BC the standards which have been mandated by the Canadian Soccer Association, regarding the NEW Nation-wide Referee Development Program.  This program has been gradually introduced into all levels of refereeing across British Columbia and we are very pleased to announce that this program has been fully integrated as of April 1, 2008.
 
All Referees will now have the NEW Nation-wide CSA Referee Badge (see picture).

 

Important Notes:

  • All BCSA Referees, regardless of the season in which with officiate or the region / location in which they live, must re-register for the April 1, 2008 to April 1, 2009 year, however;
  • New Referees that have attended and passed the Entry Level Referee Clinic within the last 8 months do not need to re-register because they are automatically registered with the Association until March 31, 2009;
  • Only those referees that have attended a 2007-2008 BCSA Referee Refresher Clinic (August 2007 through to now) may re-register.

A BETTER FUTURE FOR THE BEAUTIFUL GAME IN THIS NATION
  
 
With the election by acclamation of new president Dr. Dominic Maestracci in May, the (Canadian Soccer) Association has set its sights on a better future for the beautiful game in this nation. At the root of the vision - which will lead the (Canadian Soccer) Association to its 100th anniversary in 2012 - is a new strategic plan. The plan’s framework was endorsed at the (Canadian Soccer) Association’s Annual General Meeting on 3 May. Plans have begun for a special strategic soccer summit which will be held in the fall.

Come out and attend a re-enactment of the first soccer game in BC! On May 24th the Sapperton Rovers will play Royal City club coaches wearing vintage 1862 uniforms in a match at Queens Park Stadium. Admission is free.

GolTV is the TV partner of British Columbia Soccer Association.  GolTV broadcasts soccer twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, in both English and Spanish.  This means over 1,500 games per year at the international level, including World Cup and Olympic Games.

In accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws, the BCSA is seeking nominations for its Board of Directors for terms commencing June 7, 2008.  Notice of nominations received by May 1, 2008 will be circulated to the membership. There are eight (8) positions open for election including President, Vice President Finance, Vice President Youth and five (5) directors.
