The Vancouver Whitecaps have been the sole professional soccer club in British Columbia. Despite many ups and downs the franchise has endured and now looks well on the way to developing a solid foundation with which to become a leading sports franchise in Canada.
The Whitecaps Men, Women and Youth teams play in the United Soccer Leagues (USL), the largest system of national soccer leagues in North America. Top players follow a development pipeline Pyramid from Y-League at the foundation to the A-League (Mens) and W-League (Womens) at the peak.
The USL has a close working relationship with MLS (Mens Major League Soccer) and WUSA (Womens United Professional Association). These are the top two Division 1 fully professional soccer leagues in the states.
