In its continued advancements within the area of player development, BC Soccer is once again pleased to announce the Provincial Teams Program U13 - U16 Male and Female Final Squads for 2010.
This development program is centered on providing players an opportunity to reach their full potential as it pertains to the CSA, BC Soccer, WFC and its regional partners recognized path of development.
The Provincial Teams Program has become a symbol for players and coaches who are dedicated to enhancing the development opportunities for elite players at the Regional, Provincial, and National Team and Professional level of play.
A key measure to the program's overall success and mandate is witnessing the advancement and selection of players to the Canadian Soccer Association U17 and U20 Male and Female National Teams Program. In addition, the program has provided in access of 90% of the players assessed and selected into its development partner the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Male and Female U18 Full Time Player Program over the past two (2) years.
Throughout the year, BC Soccer's Staff Coaches and Provincial Teams Program Coaches are responsible for the scouting, evaluation, training, and final selection of players for the Provincial Teams Program from the Under 13 to Under 16 age groups. The final selection of players for all levels of this program are conducted through the following means:
1) Club team scouting
2) District Development Centre monitoring program
3) Evaluation Camps
4) BC Soccer / CSA - NTC High Performance Programming
5) Player recommendations
To assist in reaching our goal the British Columbia Soccer Association has created an extensive Program which is based on the following principles for responsible elite development.
Core Principles
- To allow players to further develop their skills in an environment that includes other technically advanced players while playing within a responsible, competitive, and demanding atmosphere.
- To enhance the technical and tactical components of the players make up through extensive on and off field training and education.
- To provide the players with access to certified / experienced and a professional levels of coaching.
- To provide the players specific guidance in the areas of diet and nutrition, mental preparation, physical fitness and post secondary education.
- To provide leadership and information on life skills and promote the importance of commitment to excellence and citizenship.
- To provide a healthy and safe training environment to insure responsible and sustainable development of the player.
- Program Financial Structure
There is a cost to players who participate within this program but is based on a cost recovery format and does provide the following funding, financial and travel assistance support players;
- Financial Assistance - Criteria based
- Provincial (APP) - Criteria based
- BC Soccer - Criteria based
- Travel Assistance - Demographically based
