The 2009 Youth Provincial Championships were held from July 2nd-5th in Richmond, Nelson, Castlegar and North Vancouver.
With over 100 teams, and over 2000 participants, the British Columbia Soccer Association’s Youth Provincial Championships are the largest organized single sport championships in the province. Consisting of 16 categories, boys and girls, U13-U18, these championships represent every area of the province; from Terrace to Cranbrook and Williams Lake to Victoria.
The top teams in the Girls U14 and U16 (Semiahmoo Thunder and Kamloops Blaze) and Boys U18 (Vancouver Selects) will now move on to compete at the National Club Championships on October 7th -12th in different cities across Canada. Boys U14 and U16 and Girls U18 categories have already determined a national representative.
“The Provincial Championships are a huge undertaking for all involved,” said Don Dancey, BC Soccer Competitions Chair, “from the officials to the volunteers, to the players, the scope of the event is enormous.”
