CCC (Community Coach Children)- Overview

 
This is the entry level course for coaches coaching in the 6 to 10 age groups.
 
The Community Coach Children's course is tailored to coaches working with players in the 6 to 10 age groups.  The contents of this course are based around the FUNdamentals of mini-soccer and touch on the following areas: stages of development, basic practice planning, the role of the coach, ethics, safety and liability, review of mini-soccer rules, basic skill development and ample amounts of sample practice sessions.  This course meets the NCCP standards for the soccer technical and practical components.
 
Participants will not be permitted to leave the course to coach or play in games.  It is suggested that the participants make arrangements to have their teams looked after by the assistant coach(es).

CCY (Community Coach Youth) - Overview

 
This is the entry level course for coaches coaching in the 10 to 14 age groups.
 
The Community Coach Youth course is tailored to coaches working with players in the 10 to 14 age groups.  The contents of this course are based around coaching players at the recreational youth level of soccer and touch on the following areas: stages of development, conducting and planning training sessions, the role of the coach, ethics, safety and liability, team development, technical skill development and information on coaching youth players.  This course meets the NCCP standards for the soccer technical and practical components.
 
Participants will not be permitted to leave the course to coach or play in games.  It is suggested that the participants make arrangements to have their teams looked after by the assistant coach(es).

Pre-requisite
: Community Coach Children is strongly recommended, but not mandatory.

CCS (Community Coach Senior) - Overview

 
This is the entry level course for coaches coaching in the 14 and older age groups.
 
The Community Coach Senior course is tailored to coaches working with players in the 14 and older age groups.  The contents of this course are geared towards coaching at a more competitive level of youth soccer and touch on the following areas: stages of development, advanced technical skill development, aspects of coaching, coaching team play (systems/tactics), set plays, coaching the goalkeeper, attacking and defending principles, fitness, physical preparation (warm-up and cool-down), first-aid, ethics, and safety and liability.  This course meets the NCCP standards for the soccer technical and practical components.
 
Participants will not be permitted to leave the course to coach or play in games.  It is suggested that the participants make arrangements to have their teams looked after by the assistant coach(es).

Pre-requisite
: Community Coach Children and Community Coach Youth are strongly recommended, but not mandatory.

B Pre-Test - Overview

 
The B Pre-Test is a non-certification course that is a mandatory pre-requisite for any coaches wishing to pursue the Canadian Soccer Association’s B License Program.  The main purpose of this course is to give coaches the proper methodology needed to detect and correct errors in technical skill development and small-sided game situations.  This course does involve some theory components, but is heavily geared towards the ability of the coach to plan and run effective sessions based on pre-selected technical and tactical coaching topics.  Successful participants will be eligible to move forward in pursuing B Provincial License certification.
 
Participants will not be permitted to leave the course to coach or play in games.  It is suggested that the participants make arrangements to have their teams looked after by the assistant coach(es).

Registered participants will have access to the pre-course package with all course details and pre-course work, including their assigned Coaching Topics, within their individual on-line profile.  Please ensure you log into your account and download the pre-course material and complete the necessary work prior to attending the first day of the course.

OUT OF PROVINCE CANDIDATE - IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you are interested in registering for a B Pretest Course in British Columbia and have obtained certification out of province, you must take the following steps first:
  1. Inform your respective provincial Association's Technical Director or person in charge of the Coaching Development Department of your interest in taking an out of province course.
  2. This person in charge of Coaching Development will need to confirm to the British Columbia Soccer Association that you have met the criteria in that province which will allow you to register here in BC.
Confirmation from the respective Association - email sent to: susanlenio@bcsoccer.net (ie. confirmation that the coach has completed the full Community Coach Certificate model)

 B Provincial - Overview


The B Provincial License (B License - Part 1) focuses on working with high performance athletes up to the age of 14 years old. This course involves both theory and practical coaching work. The theory components include: first and liability, stages of development, methodology of training, seasonal planning, session planning, match observation and analysis and the laws of the game (11-a-side). The practical components are heavily geared towards the ability of the coach to plan and implement effective training sessions based on a variety of pre-selected technical and tactical coaching topics. Each participant will undergo two (2) practical coaching assessments.  Successful participants will be eligible to apply for completion of Part 2 of the B License Program.
 
Participants will not be permitted to leave the course to coach or play in games.  It is suggested that the participants make arrangements to have their teams looked after by the assistant coach(es).

 B License Re-Assessment - Overview

The BC Soccer Association's Coaching Development Department is pleased to provide Re-Assessment service for any indidivual who was unsuccessful in reaching the required standard at a B Pre-Test or B Provincial Level Certification Course.
 
B Pre-Test Pre-requisite: Coaches can only register for this re-assessment if they were unsuccessful in meeting the criteria on thier B Pre-Test Clinic assessment.

 B National - Overview


The B National License (B License - Part 2) focuses on working with high performance athletes 14 years of age and older.  This course involves both theory and practical coaching work.  Each participant will undergo two (2) practical coaching assessments.  Successful participants will receive a Canadian Soccer Association B License. 
 
Pre-requisite: Successful pass of ‘B’ Provincial License and approved application though the BC Soccer Development Department.

Course Length: 6 days residential
 
Registration: This is a Canadian Soccer Association course, however ALL coaches from British Columbia who would like to attend this level must register through the BC Soccer e-Coaching registration database.

BC Soccer - B License Candidate Selection Policy
The British Columbia Soccer Association’s Soccer Development Department and Coaching Committee has established the following selection criteria for forwarding coaches to the Canadian Soccer Association’s B License course.  All applicants who have met the pre-requisite and have registered through this process will be reviewed based on the following criteria.  Please note that only 12 spots from BC are available on this course as per the CSA guidelines.  All applicants will be notified regarding their status by March 1st.
 
Candidate Selection Policy
1. Coaches that hold full-time employment/involvement in the game.
2. BC Soccer Player Development Staff Coaches, BC Soccer Provincial Team Coaches, BC Soccer Technical Department Contractors (coaches/instructors), District Development Centre Staff Coaches, Regional Coaches, Professional coaches or players.
3. Established playing or coaching history at a high level.
4. Current level of involvement in the game.
5. Result of B Provincial Practical Assessment
 
APPLICATION DEADLINE is February 15th.

 A Licence - Overview

The Canadian Soccer Association is solely responsible for the implementation, selection of coaches and scheduling as it relates to the A License

The CSA 'A' License Program is divided into two annual periods of ten days. Both parts will be conducted as residential courses, approximately twelve months apart, at the National Training Centre in Toronto . Each candidate will be required to complete a limited number of assignments between parts 1 and 2. Both Part 1 and Part 2 will include practical and theoretical aspects of study with the Final Practical assessments being held during Part 2 of the course.

Goalkeeping Diploma - Team Coach - Overview

Created by Tony Waiters , this course introduces team coaches to the art of goalkeeping.  The contents of this course are designed to give team coaches some basic knowledge about the techniques and skills involved in being an effective goalkeeper and most importantly, giving the coaches enough information and direction to be able to effectively introduce goalkeeping into their weekly team training sessions.  Previous goalkeeping experience is not required.  This is not a NCCP certification course.
