The BCSA Bylaws also provide that an individual may be nominated directly from the floor at the Annual General Meeting to be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Executive Plaza Hotel & Conference Centre, 405 North Road, Coquitlam, BC.
In this regard, the membership has expressed preference for nominees to present Notice of Intent to seek office prior to the AGM. This notice should include a resume and other information related to reasons for seeking to become a member of the Board of Directors. The Membership is encouraged to secure the nomination of individuals who reflect the diversity of the people served by BC Soccer and who exhibit personal attributes and key competencies outlined in the Skills and Experience Profile.
The Board of Directors is in particular need of persons having the following background skills:
Legal – a law degree or experience in managing legal issues.
Community, Ethnic and Aboriginal Issues – experience in dealing with issues related to achieving and maintaining equality within the soccer system.
Municipal, City, Provincial or National Government Experience – experience as a senior government official or with a senior government agency.
Development: Background in working with levels of government including provincial and/or municipal and Parks and Recreation authorities to establish partnerships to cultivate opportunities for facility development joint ventures, including the solicitation of funding sources and the sharing of best practices with interested BCSA member groups.
The BCSA membership prefers that all candidates present themselves at an All Candidates Meeting to be held on Friday, June 6, 2008 at the Executive Plaza Hotel. This will provide an opportunity for candidates to outline their vision to the membership and to answer questions that may arise. Attendance at this meeting is considered an important step in the election process.
