BC Soccer's FREE 2017 Soccer Conference

BC Soccer is pleased to offer a great learning environment to anyone who wishes to attend the 2017 BC Soccer Conference being on December 10, 2017 at Fortius Sport and Health Complex!
(venue subject to change based on registration - any selected venue will be within a 15 minute drive from Fortius Sport and Health)

Come enjoy presentations from keynote speaker Jason de Vos, Canada Soccer Director of Development as well as other guest speakers from Canada Soccer, Whitecaps FC, and BC Soccer presented in a classroom style format.
 

The BC Soccer Conference which is directly tailored toward the soccer landscape in British Columbia and Canada will kick off with Special guest speaker Jason de Vos. Following the opening speaker, attendees will then break out into their specific streams: Player and Coach Development, Admin and Club Management, Referee Development, Discipline Management. The Player/Coach stream was designed for those looking to learn more about both the player and coach pathways within BC. With speakers from Whitecaps FC and Canada Soccer coaches as well as BC Soccer High Performance coaches this conference is not to be missed by anyone who is looking to learn how to move along those pathways and progress professionally within soccer in British Columbia.

For all streams, the conference will be kicked off by Keynote Speaker Jason de Vos. Jason will be speaking on Development of Soccer in Canada. He will give an indepth examination on the current state of the game in Canada, the programs, the stakeholders and their impact.

The Administration and Club Management stream has been created to help support and develop board members, club executives, club administrators, club volunteers, and anyone performing administrative and/or management duties at the club level. Paul Varian, Principal of Capitas Consulting will be delivering this stream to all those who attend.  Paul has delivered similar programs in Ontario and across the province and has helped hundreds of people work more efficiently and effectively within the Soccer Club environment.

The Head Referee Workshop is for those referees, referee assigners, or anyone else interested in becoming a Head Referee. The workshop will cover the BC Soccer Referee Development Program, the Role of a Head Referee, as well as a few of the referee education initiatives available throughout British Columbia.

The Judicial & Discipline Certification course will educate and prepare participants on proper protocols and processes to manage functions of discipline, protests, complaints and appeals. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate to acknowledge their achievements

The workshop will consist of a mix of theory, and practical applications in the form of mock hearings and group case analysis. This stream is tailored to club executives, administrators, board members, and other club and league volunteers and staff who deal with discipline cases throughout the year

During this course attendees will be divided up into groups to analyze and discuss a variety of cases adapted from scenarios that BC Soccer and BC Soccer members have encountered in the past. All participants are encouraged to share their own challenging experiences during this session and as a group you will discuss how to manage them.
