Coaching Courses

BC Soccer is pleased to provide coach training for aspiring soccer coaches across British Columbia at the Grassroots level, as well as the C Diploma as part of the Canada Soccer Coach Education Pathway. To register for a course, you will need to log in to the BC Soccer course management system called Coach Centre to start your search. If you are a first-time user, please set up your account. This is where you can view course details as well as access your previous certification levels that were completed with BC Soccer.

Grassroots Coaching Courses

Canada Soccer has launched an online learning management system to help lower barriers when providing better access to coach education for grassroots volunteer, parent, and guardian coaches. Coaches will complete the online theory (Part 1) as a pre-requisite before being able to register for the on-field practical in-person workshop (Part 2) to obtain credit for the respective course level. To choose which course is right for you, you can refer to the Canada Soccer Grassroots Coach Education Program.

IMPORTANT: BC Soccer tracks certification levels for you in our course management system called Coach Centre. Please follow these steps to ensure that we have your accurate details to credit your account. Coaches 14 years of age may register for any of the Grassroots online theory courses (part 1). For the on-field practical workshop (part 2), the minimum age for the Active Start and Fundamentals is 14 years of age and for the Learn to Train and Soccer for Life, it is minimum 16 years of age.

  1. Create a Coach Centre account. If you already have one, please proceed to step 2.
  2. You must use the same Coach Centre credentials (full name and email address must match) when registering for the online theory (Part 1).
  3. Once you have completed the online theory course, you can register* for the on-field practical workshop (PART 2) to complete your full certification.

Please complete the online theory minimum 2 weeks in advance of a scheduled practical workshop to allow your pre-requisite credit to transfer over or you won’t be able to register.

When registering for the online theory (Part 1) course, you can pay directly online, or you can ask your club if they have a pre-purchased keycode for you. Just remember to use the same credentials as your Coach Centre account when signing up to ensure that your credit will transfer over to the BC Soccer database, or you won’t be able to register for the on-field practical workshop (Part 2).

If you have previously completed the Active Start, Fundamentals, Learn to Train and/or the Soccer for Life courses online or in person as part of the Grassroots Coach Education Program, you are currently not required to retake these courses again.

C Diploma Coaching Course

The Canada Soccer C Diploma (formerly known as the C Licence) is the entry-level course in the Canada Soccer Advanced Coach Education Program. This is designed to prepare coaches to progress in the pathway, helping educate coaches about the demands of grassroots soccer. Effective in 2024, new curriculum revisions and updates have undergone development to align the content to meet the standards of the CONCACAF Coaching Convention (Please click here to review the article).

  • Due to the change in Canada Soccer standards, we are no longer accepting evaluations under the former C Licence process. However, BC Soccer has your C Licence Trained status recorded in our database which can be accessed when you log in to your Coach Centre account.
