Coaching Courses

BC Soccer is pleased to provide coach training for aspiring soccer coaches across British Columbia. Canada Soccer has made coach education more accessible by moving to a blended learning format allowing coaches to complete the theoretical part of the course online (PART 1) and the on-field practical component (PART 2) by attending an in-person workshop.

Coaching Courses

Canada Soccer has launched an online learning management system to lower the barrier to access for grassroots volunteer, parent, and guardian coaches. To choose which course is right for you, please refer to the Canada Soccer Coach Education Program pathway. If you have previously completed the Active Start, Fundamentals, Learn to Train and/or the Soccer for Life courses online or in person as part of the Grassroots Coach Education Program, you are not required to retake these courses again. You’ll find full details on Coaching Courses in the Education section of our website.

BC Soccer tracks certification levels for you in our course management system called Coach Centre. Please follow these important steps to ensure that we have your accurate details to credit your account:

  1. Create a Coach Centre account. If you already have one, please proceed to step 2.
  2. You must use the same Coach Centre full name and email address to register for the online theory (PART 1).
  3. Once you complete the online theory course then you can register for the on-field practical workshop (PART 2) to complete your full certification.

Registering for a Grassroots Coach Education Course

There are two ways to do this. To purchase an online course as an individual coach, please visit the Canada Soccer Coach Education Store to check the cost and complete your registration. You will receive a keycode and instructions to create your profile. Alternatively, you can ask your club if they have pre-purchased a keycode for you to access the online modules and you can enter it when you log in to get started.

Once you have completed the online theory (PART 1) you can register for the on-field practical workshop (PART 2) to complete your full certification for the respective course level.

Check with your club when they are planning to host their on-field practical workshops so you can attend, but make sure that you have completed the online theory first as this is the pre-requisite or you won’t be able to register. To search for available on-field practical workshops, register at www.coachcentre.ca

If you are encountering difficulties with the Canada Soccer online platform or have any concerns, please contact their support team directly at smarteru@canadasoccer.com

The Canada Soccer C License Course

The Canada Soccer C Licence is the entry level course in the Canada Soccer Advanced Coach Education Program which prepares coaches to progress to the Children’s Development Stream, Youth Development Stream, or the Senior Performance Stream. There is no pre-requisite to register for the C Licence, and it is the first time that coaches can be formally evaluated after completing the course.

Candidates who are successful in passing their evaluation can apply to progress within the pathway in one of three specific streams. Only residents of British Columbia can register for the C Licence Program delivered by BC Soccer.  Read the Canada Soccer C-Licence overview here.

This is an advanced course and coaches are advised to review the information package first to better understand what you can expect. Canada Soccer strongly encourages all coaches to complete ongoing coach education modules as part of the learning journey as professional development which can be found by logging into your NCCP Locker account.
