BC Soccer’s Female Coaching Framework is designed to raise awareness and provide developmental opportunities to support women in coaching. This framework included the creation of a Female Development Lead position within the Soccer Development Department. Additionally, BC Soccer designed a Coach Mentorship Program that prioritized the growth of female coaches by offering opportunities for involvement. Between 2021-2024, BC Soccer supported over 60 women who participated in the mentorship processes, working toward their C License Diploma across the province. Clubs are encouraged to design their own mentorship initiatives and consider hosting female-only grassroots coaching courses as a means to help grow their own community of aspiring female coaches.

To support clubs to take on a greater leadership role, BC Soccer has also partnered with the “BMO Girls Play BC!” initiative, aimed at improving gender equity and empowerment in sport by engaging girls through playing and coaching opportunities.
