2015 BC Soccer Annual General Meeting

BC Soccer welcomes the four re-elected and one newly elected members to the BC Soccer Board of Directors.

Vancouver, BC June 13, 2015 - The BC Soccer Annual General Meeting took place Saturday June 13, 2015 and amongst the highlights was the re-election of Kjeld Brodsgaard (Victoria) as 1st Vice President for another two year term, along with Rob Brown (Harrison Hot Springs) also re-elected on a two year term for the position of Vice President Adult.   

BC Soccer is also pleased to welcome back Aiman El-Ramly (Richmond), Don Moslin (Nanaimo), Shannon Foster (Pederson) (Port Moody), and John Reed (Prince George) who were re- elected by the membership to the BC Soccer board as Directors on two year term.  BC Soccer is also pleased to welcome Ron Brar (Surrey) who was also elected by the membership on a two year term.

Former BC Soccer President and now Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) Board of Director, Steve Reed was one of the special guests at the AGM and addressed the membership on behalf of Canada Soccer. 

The AGM weekend also constituted a number of membership meetings including a youth member forum, adult member leagues forum and a combined youth and adult forum. Discussion at each of the meetings was very positive, insightful and hugely valuable and will help to further shape the direction of priorities of the association within the strategic plan.

“The AGM weekend is a great opportunity for the board, staff and membership to come together to appreciate what we have collectively delivered in the previous year, discuss the challenges we face and look at the many opportunities that we can take advantage of as we look to grow and develop the game of soccer in BC”, said Roger Barnes, President of BC Soccer. “I am pleased with the very positive feedback we received from members on the progress we are making, the support we are providing them with and how we can continue to adapt to their needs in a very dynamic soccer environment.”

Roger Barnes specifically acknowledged the dedication and commitment shown by all of the people who put their names.

BC Soccer also presented on June 13, 2015, at the BC Soccer Awards and Scholarship Luncheon, a number of awards to very deserving individuals throughout the province.  John Nielsen received the prestigious Life Membership Award as an individual who has dedicated his time and passion to the sport of soccer specifically in refereeing.
