22 Teams Crowned Coastal Cup Champions

Richmond Soccer Association and Minoru Park played host to the 61 Coastal Cup Finals

Vancouver BC, April 29, 2014 – The 61 Coastal Cup Finals came to a close on Sunday April 27 as 22 teams were crowned BC Coastal Cup Champions.  The month long tournament, in which youth teams from across the lower mainland and Vancouver Island compete in, is one of the oldest and largest youth tournaments in the province. 

“We would like to thank Richmond Soccer Association for hosting such a great event,” said Roger Barnes, President of BC Soccer. “There were some amazing matches with many going into extra time and all of the competitors should be extremely proud of themselves.We look forward to watching many of these young stars play at the BC Soccer Provincial Championships this summer and we would like to thank the Coastal Cup Committee of Youth League Schedulers who arranged all of the 300 games.”  

Boys and girls teams within the U13-U18 age categories compete in the Coastal Cup tournament over the month of April with the winning teams going on to represent their age category and district at the BC Soccer Provincial Championships.

This year at the Coastal Cup Finals BC Soccer’s Giant Inflatable Jersey was on hand for players, teams, spectators to sign. The giant jersey will be traveling the province over the next year gathering signatures from as many British Columbian’s as possible, wishing the Canada Women’s National Team good luck at FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015.
