Special olympic athletes giving their all

The hallmark of sports competition is providing athletes with the opportunity to perform at the highest level and to the best of their abilities.

From July 4 - 7, 2013 48 teams from around the province will gather at North Vancouver's Inter River Park for the 2013 BC Provincial Girls' B Cup Championships. With an 8 team round robin format and single knockout elimination playoff, this is an opportunity to see the finest young female soccer players between the age groups of U-13 to U-18 in Western Canada.

Six Richmond players crack rosters of provincial teams

Six Richmond soccer players will be wearing Team B.C. colours this summer.

Jonah Pang, Liam Robinson, Duva Karunakaran, Olivia Lee, Montana Leonard and Amelia Crawford have been named to provincial teams for upcoming regional and national tournaments.

Sports Academy: Grassroots youth program means soccer for all

The beauty of soccer is that it’s accessible to everyone.

And B.C. Soccer’s latest and inspiring partnership with Special Olympics B.C. (SOBC) couldn’t mirror that more as they invited seven SOBC teams to compete in the 2013 Youth Provincial Championships July 4 to 7.

Darrin McLeod honoured by BC Soccer

Darrin McLeod of the Upper Island Riptide has been awarded a BC Soccer Award of Merit.

The Award of Merit is presented to individuals in recognition of contributions to soccer, during a period of 10 or more years as a player, manager, coach, official, or administrator at the club/league or district level.

Prince George represented at BC Soccer level

-Anthony Preston of Prince George is the only player from Northern BC to be selected into the BC Soccer Provincial Development Program. Preston plays for the PGYSA U14 Tier 1 Kodiaks and commutes to Vancouver to play with the Surrey United U13 Boys in the BC Premier League.

The beautiful game in Castlegar just keeps getting more beautiful

Last week brought four of the top representatives and coaches from BC Soccer to Castlegar to present a workshop for local coaches and some young players. They presented a new vision that Canada Soccer and BC Soccer have for player and coach development. The concept is called Long Term Player Development (LPTD), and is evolved from the modern approaches the world international soccer body, FIFA, has adopted.

Special Olympics Soccer Teams to Play Tournament at BC Soccer Provincial Championships in 2013

Vancouver, BC: BC Soccer is pleased to announce a tournament featuring soccer teams from Special Olympics BC. Seven top Special Olympics BC soccer teams will play tournaments in conjunction with the 2013 Youth Provincial Championships. Four of them will play in the 2013 Girls Youth Provincial B Cup in North Vancouver, and three of them at the Les Sinnott Memorial Boys Provincial Cup in Prince George.
