BC Soccer Announces A New Grants Program

$1000 grants available to BC Soccer Members and their Affiliate Clubs

Vancouver BC May 24, 2017 - BC Soccer is proud to announce to their members and affiliate clubs a new Grants Program which has been designed to support organizations that currently have, or want to, introduce initiatives that make participation in soccer more accessible and inclusive. Members and affiliated clubs that provide additional specialized programming can apply to receive a $1,000 grant to support them in the designing and delivery of these programs.

 “We are very proud to be able to offer this new grants program as we continue to work hard to make soccer as inclusive and accessible as possible in British Columbia,” said Kjeld Brodsgaard, President of BC Soccer. “Many members and their affiliate clubs offer various programs throughout the province that help bring soccer to the wider community and we hope these grants will help boost those programs while also encouraging other organizations to offer more inclusive programs within their communities.”

 The identified specialized programming includes:

  • Disability Programming

The disability programming grant supports programs and activities that are designed to offer players with any form of disability the opportunity to play soccer.  Programs and activities can include Para soccer, Amputee soccer, Power Chair soccer, programming for the hearing impaired, etc. For more information, please see the CSA LTPD Disability Document Link: HERE

  • Non-Traditional Programming 

The non-traditional programming grant supports programs and activities that introduce and offer alternate forms of soccer such as futsal, walking soccer, co-ed soccer and U13+ Small Sided Games formats.
 

  • Under-Represented Group Programming

The under represented group programming grant supports programs and activities that are designed to introduce and welcome underrepresented groups to soccer. Programming that provides accessibility and inclusivity in all its forms for underrepresented groups such as aboriginal outreach and/or  grassroots programs that are accessible and affordable for low income families.
 

  • Female Grant Iniative 

BC Soccer is pleased to be able to offer a specialized grant program to member organizations that are working to enhance female-specific programming within their club. This initiative, brought forward by the Women in Soccer Committee aligns with BC Soccer’s strategic objective of increasing the percentage of female players, coaches, referees, and administrators in the sport, and is designed to help the BC Soccer membership retain, attract, and enhance female programming.
