BC Soccer announces special awards-recognition for 2021

Adjusted format reflects interruption in past season of play

May 21, 2021 – Vancouver BC

BC Soccer in conjunction with member nominations, provides annual awards to approximately 24+ individuals. The majority of these awards are typically tied to the current season of play, and nominations are submitted electronically by membership and/or recommendations brought forward by the Board.

Due to the significant restrictions on soccer activity over the last 12+ months from the BC Government and Provincial Health Authority, for 2021, BC Soccer is adjusting the awards categories to provide the following four special awards.

Exceptional Leadership Award

Presented to an individual, or organization at the club, district, or league level in recognition of significant contributions to soccer and their soccer community in British Columbia during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I.e.an individual, or organization at the club, district, or league level from within BC Soccer’s membership that demonstrates outstanding leadership and commitment, inspires others, leads with a high professional standard and has made a significant contribution to the enhancement of soccer and culture, or accessibility of soccer in their community.

Good Samaritan Award

Presented to an individual in recognition of exceptional service and commitment to soccer and their soccer community in British Columbia during the COVID-19 pandemic. I.e.an individual from within BC Soccer’s membership who has gone above and beyond the norm in giving back to soccer and/or their community in the form of services in kind.

Special Achievement Award

Presented to an individual, or organization in recognition of exceptional service and contributions to soccer in British Columbia during the COVID-19 pandemic. I.e. an individual or organization from within BC Soccer’s membership that demonstrates exceptional service and commitment, inspires others, and continually goes above and beyond to make a difference in soccer, and/or promoting positive soccer experiences.

Community Service Award

Presented to an organization in recognition of outstanding commitment and service to their soccer community in British Columbia during the COVID-19 pandemic. I.e. an organization from within BC Soccer’s membership recognized for giving back through work with non-profit organizations, charitable associations, or community groups within their soccer community in the form of services in kind.

 

These special awards will not only recognize extraordinary individuals from within BC Soccer’s membership (players, coaches, teams, administrators, clubs/districts leagues etc.) who have made significant contributions and/or impact on their soccer community, but also highlights positive soccer experiences within BC Soccer’s membership during these challenging times.
