BC Soccer Announces the 2014/15 Scholarship Winners

17 graduating youth soccer participants in BC to receive a total of over $19,500 in scholarships on June 13

Vancouver, BC, May 26, 2015 – BC Soccer is proud to present 17 Scholarships to some of BC’s most inspiring and promising individuals involved in soccer in BC.  Recipients came from all across British Columbia and are being recognized for not only excelling in academics but also for their continued contributions to society and soccer at many different levels.

“We are very grateful to have four new donors; Bell Canada, Mansfield Family, Return-It and the Delta Hotel and Resorts making for a  total of 17 scholarships and over $19,500,” said Jason Elligott, Acting Executive Director of BC Soccer. “Each and every one of the scholarship recipients is very deserving and we are happy to be able to offer them these scholarships which will help them with their future endeavors.”

Each of the BC Soccer Scholarship winners have shown an incredible dedication within both their soccer and academic careers in British Columbia.  The seventeen recipients listed below are all headed off to universities to continue their studies and the BC Soccer Scholarships will be awarded on June 13 to help aid in achieving their future goals.

The BC Soccer Scholarship recipient, funded by BC Soccer, is Siobhan van Gruen of Whistler.                       

The recipient of the Alex Leitch Soccer Express Scholarship, funded by Soccer Express, is North Vancouver’s Nicole Conquergood.

Alexander Holburn Beaudin and Lang LLP funded two Scholarships awarded to Rachel Garrett of Surrey and Abbotsford’s Chandpreet Sandhu.

The recipient of the All Sport Marketing Scholarship, funded by AllSport Insurance, is Natalie Cavallin from Victoria.

The Dancey Family Scholarship, jointly fund by the Surrey Metro Soccer Association and the Dancey Family is awarded to Janelle Stephens from Abbotsford.     

The recipient of the Surrey Metro Soccer Association Scholarship, funded by the Surrey Metro Soccer Association, is Amin Thind from Surrey.      

Michael Di Spirito from Burnaby is the recipient of the Mainland Soccer League Scholarship, a BC Soccer legacy funded scholarship.                

Fiona Brown from Surrey is the recipient of the South District Girls Soccer Association funded, Sandra Duncan Memorial Scholarship.

BC Soccer’s partner, Signal Systems funded the company named Scholarship to Mara McLaughlin from Coldstream.

Kristen Louie from North Vancouver is the recipient of Return It Scholarship funded by Return It.

BC Soccer’s travel partner, Unigloge funded two company named Scholarship to Hannah Carrothers from Delta and Victoria’s Alexis Fawcett.

The recipient of the Maybelle and Joe Mansfield Scholarship, funded by the Mansfield Family, is Jordan Gaudet from Lake Country.                 

Bell Canada funded two company named Scholarships to Chelsey Bone from Langley and Fort St. James’s Davin Birdi.

The recipient of the Delta Hotel and Resorts Scholarship, funded by the company, is Julianna Nemeth from Fort Langley.
                 
BC Soccer will be awarding all of the scholarship winners on June 13, at this year’s Award and Scholarship Luncheon.

BC Soccer would like to thank the four new donors for their support as well as the 10 returning donors for their continued support of this initiative.
