BC Soccer is now accepting candidates for its Board of Directors. Can you help improve soccer for the 120,000 soccer players in BC?

BC Soccer is now accepting candidate applications for its Board of Directors for terms commencing June 2018. Elections for these positions will be held at the Annual General Meeting on Saturday June 9th at the Delta by Marriott Burnaby Hotel and Conference Centre.

The terms of seven directors come to an end at this AGM.  Accordingly, elections will be held for these positions, all for two-year terms:

  • President
  • Vice President, Finance
  • Vice President, Youth
  • 4 Directors

To allow members to properly evaluate all candidates, the membership has requested candidates to provide notice and their candidate information to BC Soccer before the AGM, so that information can be forwarded to the membership for their consideration.

The Nominations Committee encourages potential candidates who have the passion and commitment to work to improve soccer in BC to consider serving our sport on the Board of Directors of the Association. Candidates ideally need experience of soccer in BC and the skills and personal attributes outlined in the BC Soccer Board of Directors Information Package for Potential Candidates (available HERE). To address the need for effective representation on the Board of the different segments of our sport, qualified candidates from the Interior of British Columbia and women are especially encouraged to submit their names as candidates.

All prospective candidates are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting and also an All-Candidates Meeting to be held at 7.00pm on Friday June 8th, the evening before the AGM. This will allow candidates to present themselves to members and to meet members at the informal reception following. (Travel expenses for declared candidates living outside the Lower Mainland will be covered by BC Soccer).

BC Soccer will regularly update the membership about which candidates have submitted applications by email and on the web-site. This will begin with distribution of the information supplied to BC Soccer by April 5th to the membership by April 11th. Any submissions received after this date will be forwarded to the membership and posted every two weeks until the AGM. (While not preferred, individuals may declare their candidacy from the floor at the Annual General Meeting).
