BC Soccer Pleased to Support KidSport BC with $10,000

Vancouver BC March 24, 2017   - BC Soccer is pleased to announce that for the third consecutive year we have been able to support KidSport BC with a $10,000 contribution! BC Soccer acknowledges the incredible work that KidSport BC does for sports in communities all over British Columbia specifically their contributions to soccer. The $10,000 will be distributed to  KidSport BC community chapters with the highest soccer specific KidSport applications to assist them in their efforts to support young soccer players and athletes in their respective communities.

Soccer is the number one funded sport in terms of KidSport BC grants and in 2016 there were over 2,400 soccer players who received just over $545,000 in grants to help them stay active and play a season of soccer with their friends and teammates.

“Every year we see all of the work that KidSport BC does for the soccer community and we are pleased to be able to contribute to KidSport BC to help give even more youth the opportunity to continue to play,” said BC Soccer Executive Director Jason Elligott. “KidSport BC also helps BC Soccer deliver against a number of BC Soccer strategic objectives including: Ensuring there are affordable grassroots and high performance programs and; increasing the number of registered soccer players in BC increasing the number of initiatives to attract new players and enhance the diversity of participants, all of which BC Soccer is very grateful for.”

“This generous donation from BC Soccer further emphasizes the philosophy that KidSport has always espoused…that it takes a village to raise a child! The support of our many partners and the BC provincial sport organizations is critical to our sustainability. Our mission is: #SoALLKidsCanPlay, and this contribution will assist us in getting at least 40 more kids off the sidelines and into the game!”, according to KidSport BC Director Pete Quevillon.
