BC Soccer to Host their Fourth Annual FREE Futsal Festival

Vancouver BC, November 2, 2016 – BC Soccer is excited to announce the fourth annual BC Soccer Futsal Festival. The festival will take place on December 18 with a mandatory education session for coaches on the evening of Friday, December 16th. The free festival is open to U9 to U12 teams and will take place at the University of Fraser Valley’s main gymnasium, the Envision Athletic Centre. 

 “The feedback from previous years has been overwhelmingly positive and I am really looking forward to being a part of BC Soccer’s Annual Futsal Festival,” said Paul Turner, BC Soccer Grassroots Development Officer. “This Futsal Festival is a great way for kids to explore futsal in a fun and dynamic environment. I also want to extend a thanks to the University of Fraser Valley for working with us on this great event.”

 The BC Soccer futsal festival allows players to learn the fundamentals of how to play the game of futsal, all within a fun and educational learning environment. The festival will be delivered in a station-based format and will be adapted for the game of futsal by the BC Soccer Grassroots Department.

Where: The University of Fraser Valley, Envision Athletic Centre (1395 McKenzie Rd,   Abbotsford, BC, V2S 7M8)
Open to: Girls & Boys – U9 through to U12
Entry Fee: FREE!

Overview of Activities

  • Teams will participate in a mixture of games and workshops. Players will rotate between games and skill stations throughout the day.
  • Coaching education sessions (classroom and on-field) will be on Friday night, December 16.
  • Futsal equipment will be provided for the festival however players need to bring footwear suitable for and indoor gymnasium.
  • Recommended roster size is 12; however, teams with slightly more or less players are welcome – Teams may be split into two groups depending on numbers.
  • Teams will participate on Sunday only.
  • One coach must attend the Friday December 16 pre-festival workshop from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. If you wish to register for the festival but are unable to attend the session on the 16th, please contact us.
  • Space is limited so register early!
