BC Soccer unveils its 2024 Strategic Plan

Comprehensive, months long process by a 3rd party consultant, included engagement with numerous stakeholders both within and outside BC Soccer’s Membership.

The development of BC Soccer's 2024 Strategic Plan was led by the Strategic Planning Working Group, Chaired by board member Gayle Statton. The process included reviewing BC Soccer’s 2016-2019 Strategic Plan, membership feedback surveys from the last five years, Canada Soccer and Via Sport Strategic Plans and directions, and engaging a third-party consultant to survey all members and stakeholders.  Engagement also included group sessions with BC Soccer board and staff teams and over 40 one-on-one meetings with targeted members and stakeholders. The development process began in the summer of 2019 and was a thorough process over the last 12 months. BC Soccer’s Board of Directors have approved the plan which will be in effect until December 31, 2024.

Updating both the vision and mission statements:

Vision: Positive Soccer Experiences

Mission: Promote Develop and Govern Soccer in British Columbia.

As part of the process, the Association has also defined its core values:

Inclusive — all can participate and unite in soccer in British Columbia

Safe — committed to safe and respectful soccer in British Columbia

Excellence — lead and progress soccer in British Columbia

Collaborative — deliver soccer with members and stakeholders in British Columbia

The 5 specific goals: 

1: Soccer is Safe and Respectful:  Work towards becoming the most inclusive sport in BC

2: Redefine and Strengthen BC Soccer’s Membership: take a forward-thinking approach to improve BC Soccer’s delivery model.

3: Strengthen Business Operations and Strive for Governance Excellence:  Evolve board & staff to be more strategic and forward-thinking while working with soccer members and stakeholders to improve the game

4: Increase Soccer Interest and Participation: Encourage enjoyment, inclusivity and growth

5: Coach Player and Referee Development: Support retention and development of referees and coaches.
