BC Soccer's First Phase of their High Performance Program Completed

Eight Female BC Soccer High Performance Program players invited to attend the Whitecaps FC Girls Elite REX Program in Partnership with BC Soccer training environment

Vancouver BC February 11 2015 – BC Soccer’s first phase of their High Performance Program (HPP) concluded January 30 and eight players from the female program have been invited to attend the Whitecaps FC Girls Elite REX Program in Partnership with BC Soccer (REX) training environment.  The HPP program continues to be based around the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League Schedule (BCSPL) and will provide a platform for high-performance youth players to be assessed.

“The first phase of BC Soccer’s High Performance Program was a huge success and we want to thank all of the players and coaches as well as Fortius Sport and Health for making it an incredibly successful month,” said Carlos Grosso, BC Soccer Board of Directors and Chair of the BC Soccer High Performance Committee. “It is also amazing to see eight HPP players from the female side getting the chance to move along the player pathway to the REX environment. This success is a true testament to the quality of coaches in the EA SPORTS BCSPL and the High Performance Program as well the drive and work ethic of the players.”

BC Soccer and the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League have been building stronger partnerships with Canada Soccer and Vancouver Whitecaps FC and these changes to BC Soccer’s High Performance Programming will help create a clearer player pathway that connects all of these organizations. The programming is scheduled around the EA SPORTS BCSPL which allows coaches and players the best possible environment for player identification by Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Canada Soccer. BC Soccer looks to continue to build upon these relationships which will ultimately help drive more British Columbian Soccer players to universities, professional contracts and to National Team Appearances.

“We held four separate weeks of the High Performance Programming which began with the 2002 born female players on January 8, 2015  and concluded with the 1999-2001 born male players on January 30,” said Luca Dalla Pace, BC Soccer High Performance Officer. “ All of the players who participated will now return to their club environments where BC Soccer staff and HPP Coaches will continue their ongoing assessments and evaluation of these and other players in the BCSPL.
