Become Concussion Smart And Aware Through The Coaching Association of Canada's National Coaching Certification Program

The Coaching Association of Canada's learning module Making Headway

The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is offering their concussion awareness module Making Headway for free to coaches, parents and anyone interested in taking the course.  The 60-90 min in-depth course will be offered through CAC’s National Coaching Certificate Program (NCCP) and will cover everything from concussion prevention, learning the symptoms of a concussion, to ensuring athletes safely return to play.  Making Headway is designed to help ensure the safety of athletes and is an extremely valuable resource for coaches and players alike.

“This is truly a great opportunity for coaches and we hope many will take advantage of the Coaching Association of Canada’s offering,” said Rob Csabai, BC Soccer Programs Coach and Manager of Coaching Development. “Safety of players should always be top of mind for coaches and this is a perfect tool for helping coaches recognize when a player may have a concussion and to help prevent further injury.”

For coaches to complete the course they will need a CC# but if they haven’t taken a NCCP module they can register with The Locker and obtain a CC#.  The Locker is an online space, developed by the CAC, where coaches can view all of their obtained credits, track their progress and help guide their development.

“Healthy and safety of the players should be everyone’s first priority,” said Markus Reinkens, BC Soccer Programs Coach and Manager of Soccer Sciences.  “Making Head Way is an invaluable module for coaches and parents to educate and raise awareness of the risks associated with concussions within sport. The module covers a range of subjects all revolved around concussions and this is the perfect opportunity for coaches and parents to take advantage of a great resource that the Coaching Association of Canada is offering.”
