February 7, 2018 Vancouver BC - BC Soccer is proud to have delivered a 4-day regional C License course in late January. The course was held over two weekends in Kamloops and Kelowna training 18 candidates from around the province.
With the introduction of the BC Soccer Premier League six years ago, as well as more comprehensive youth programming introduced and operated by the Vancouver Whitecaps FC as they transitioned into MLS, BC Soccer has worked with its Membership and Stakeholders to set in place a clearer and recognized player development pathway. The primary goals are to better support players in their individual development, have more BC based players selected to participate in these professional operated programs, with the ultimate objective of having a higher percentage of players from BC (compared to BC’s total BC player population within Canada) on Canadian Soccer youth national teams.

Vancouver BC January 30, 2018 - The City of Vancouver has officially voted to continue to move forward in the FIFA 2026 Men’s World Cup Bid as a host city. Currently Vancouver has been chosen as one of four Canadian Cities in the joint bid (Mexico, USA, Canada) to host matches and today the city has voted in favor of continuing the bid process in hopes of officially becoming one of the Canadian cities to host matches.

Vancouver BC, November 27, 2017 – With more than 80 individuals registered BC Soccer is excited to host their first Technical Director Diploma course focused on supporting individuals who are responsible for providing technical leadership for their soccer organization. The course will be presented by Paul Varian of Capitus Consulting and is aimed at individuals who currently hold a Technical Director position and for those who may be in the capacity to oversee those responsibilities whether full-time, part-time, or as a volunteer. The TD Diploma course is also for those individuals who want to learn the skills to pursue a role as a technical lead in the future.

His resignation comes as a result of a need to support his local soccer community, the Nelson Youth Soccer Association. The BC Soccer board fully supports his decision and understands why he must resign his director position with the association. Further, the board thanks Chuck Bennett for his active contribution to support the association as it works to support soccer in BC and met its strategic objectives as outlined in the 2016-2019 Strategic Plan.
Vancouver BC, October 31, 2017 – BC Soccer is pleased to announce Mountain United FC have achieved standard 1 of the BC Soccer Club Charter Program. Achieving standard 1 of the BC Soccer Club Charter Program required Mountain United FC to meet criteria outlined within the program. The criteria are based on three top-line categories: Technical; Governance; and Administrative. Mountain United FC operates within the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League with girls and boys teams in the U13-U18 age divisions.
BC Soccer’s Club Charter Program Standard 2 and Standard 3 will not currently be released as previously scheduled in 2017 and 2018 as BC Soccer supports Canada Soccer’s new club licensing program

Vancouver, BC October 16, 2017: Each year organizations within the BC Soccer membership submit bids to host the BC Soccer Youth Provincial Championships. After careful consideration of all provincial cup bids, which we are thankful to have received, BC Soccer is excited to announce the 2018 Provincial Cup final Hosts! Kamloops Youth Soccer Association will host the Girl’s B Cup finals, Richmond Soccer Association will host the A Cup finals, Burnaby District Youth Soccer Association will host the Les Sinnott Memorial Cup finals, and Vancouver Island Wave will host the BC Soccer Premier Cup finals.

Vancouver BC October 09, 2017 – Three BC teams represented Britsh Columbia at the Canada Soccer Club National Challenge and Jubilee Trophy competitions. Surrey United Soccer Club finished with a silver medal in the Women’s Jubilee trophy with NSGSC Renegades finishing in eight place. In the Men’s Challenge Cup, Club Inter beat out Quebec in a shootout in their final match of the tournament to finish in 5th place.
Vancouver BC October 09, 2017 – Two U15 and two U17 British Columbia soccer teams returned from the Canada Soccer Club Nationals. Surrey United Soccer Club finished with a gold medal in the Women’s U15 competition with Mountain United finishing in 5th place in Men’s U15 competition. In the U17 competitions, Coquitlam Metro-Ford finished in 5th place in the Women’s competition and in the Men's competition Coquitlam Metro Ford finished in 4th place. The U15 competition was held in Calgary, Alberta, while the U17 Competition was held in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

In 2016 BC Soccer introduced the High Performance License, as a free service designed to assist and support all the BCSPL Franchise Clubs in maintaining and enhancing high performance/technical development standards. The standards, which were created with input from Canada Soccer, Whitecaps FC, and the Technical Directors of the BCSPL franchise clubs, promote a player first mentality and support the Canada Soccer’s Long Term Player Development Model.

Coquitlam Metro-Ford are the British Columbia representatives for both the Women’s and Men’s competitions. The Women kicked off their competition yesterday with a 4-0 win over Saskatchewan representatives FC Regina. The Coquitlam Metro-Ford men kick off their competition today as they take on Regina Arsenal FC.

BC Soccer supports this initiative and is encouraging all members, clubs, leagues, players, parents, coaches, volunteers and referees to help rid soccer and the world from bullying. The new C License replaces the B-Pretest course and becomes the entry level for coaches who are pursuing the Licensing Stream coaching pathway (C License, B License and A License programs). Coaches who currently hold a B-Pretest designation will have a 2 Year window ending December 31, 2017 to enter the Provincial B License program directly. After this date, the B-Pretest will cease to be recognized and any coach who does not hold a B License Provincial designation or higher will be required to meet the entry requirements for the C License prior to progressing in the Licensing Stream.

Should there be further individuals within the soccer community who wish to make their intensions known, BC Soccer requests they complete the BC Soccer Board Candidate Form and submit to the BC Soccer Office. Should any more submissions be received prior to the AGM, BC Soccer will update the 2016 BC Soccer Candidates for the Board of Directors document, repost on this page and circulate to the membership each Friday leading up to the AGM.

Vancouver BC, March 14, 2016 – In 2012 BC Soccer announced the 2012-2015 Strategic Plan, it also published the 52 specific quantitative objectives which the association set to achieve the plan. The Strategic Plan and its specific quantified objectives, which has been a guiding light for the association over the last 3 fiscal years, were provided to the membership and made public as BC Soccer holds itself accountable for “doing what we said we would do”. As the plan progressed, 2 objectives were broken into 4 therefore bringing the total of Quantified Objectives to 54.

As the intake under 13 player begins their involvement with the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League, there will be amendments made to the FIFA Laws of the Game to assist with the full field transition during the September to November timeframe.
The use of a retreat line will be introduced to promote young players during goal kicks to improve their ability to play out from the back rather than kicking the ball away from their goal and down field.
By introducing a retreat line, the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League believes that the game will become more rewarding for intake players graduating into the under 13 age group in January 2015.

BC Soccer is thrilled to announce its inaugural free Futsal Festival which will take place January 4-5, in partnership with the University of Fraser Valley (UFV). The festival will create a fun, educational environment that not only demonstrates how to play and teach the game of futsal, but also highlights the FIFA Festivals model, adapted for the game of Futsal by the BC Soccer Grassroots Development Department.
