Eight Teams Crowned BC Soccer Provincial Champions

This past weekend Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West was host to the BC Soccer Adult Provincial Championships.

Vancouver BC, May 12, 2014 – BC Soccer crowned eight adult soccer teams Provincial Champions this past weekend at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex.  The four Men’s Provincial Cup matches took place on Saturday May 10, with the four Women’s matches taking place on the following Sunday, May 11.

“The Provincial Championships went extremely well and it was great to see all of the fans out at the Women’s and Men’s A Cup Finals,” said Kjeld Brodsgaard , First Vice President of BC Soccer and Chair of Adult Competitions Committee .  “A huge congratulation goes out to all of the teams who competed and a special thanks to the Metro Women’s Soccer League and the Vancouver Metro Soccer League for putting on such a great competition.”

The Men’s Championships kicked off on Saturday with Guildford FC taking the Doug Day Cup (Men’s U21) with a 3-0 win over EDC FC Burnaby. The Deryl Hughes Cup (Men’s 35+) was next to be awarded as the PoCo Castilians defeated North Delta SC Rangers 1-0.   The South Burnaby Fighting Irish took the Keith Millar Cup (Men’s B) with a 1-0 win over Richmond All Blacks and then the  final cup of the day, the Men’s Provincial Cup (Men’s A Cup), was awarded to Croatia SC as they defeated the Surrey United Firefighters 1-0.

The Women’s first Provincial Cup was awarded CCB United who won their match 4-0 against Vancouver Athletic Pumas in the U21 division.  Coastal FC won the Women’s Classics Cup with a 6-1 win over Gorge FC with the Women’s B Cup being awarded right after that to Magnuson Ford Mariners United who won their match 3-2 over Bombastic FC.  The final match of the championships was the Women’s A Cup in which Surrey United made it 11 straight titles with a 2-0 win over NSGSC Renegades.
