Four Men's Teams Crowned BC Soccer Provincial Champions

Westside FC, West Van FC, Guilford FC and EDC Burnaby Crowned BC Soccer Provincial Champions

Vancouver BC, May 10, 2015 – BC Soccer crowned four adult men’s soccer teams Provincial Champions today.  The four Men’s Provincial Cup matches took place on Saturday May 10th, at Willoughby fields in Langley following the women’s matches which took place on May 9th.

“Both the Men’s and Women’s BC Soccer Provincial Championships provided an exciting and entertaining weekend of soccer for everyone in attendance and all of those who joined in watching the live stream,” said Rob Brown, BC Soccer VP of Adult. “I want to congratulate all of the teams that competed this weekend and I also want to thank the BC Soccer Adult Competitions Committee for all of the hours of hard work they have dedicated throughout the year.”

The Men’s Championships kicked off on Sunday at 10:30 A.M. in Langley with the final match of the BC Soccer Adult Provincial Cup Finals taking place at 3:00 P.M.

The Keith Millar Cup (Men’s B) featured Port Alberni Athletic of the Lower Island Soccer League who were defeated by Guilford FC of the Vancouver Metro Soccer League 3-0.  The MVP for the match was Dhani Sharma.
 

The Deryl Hughes Cup (Men’s 35+) featured Croatia FC from the Vancouver Metro Soccer League who were defeated by Westside FC also of the Vancouver Metro Soccer League 2-1 on penalty kicks. The MVP for that match was Keith Moore.  Westside FC will now move on to the Canada Soccer Western Regional’s which will take place in Vancouver in September of this year.
 
The Doug Day Cup (Men’s U21) featured two Vancouver Metro Soccer League Teams, West Vancouver FC who defeated Surrey United FC 2-1 on penalty kicksThe MVP for the match was the West Vancouver FC keeper, Hudson Nelles, who came up big making three saves in the penalty shootout.
 
The Men’s A Cup concluded the BC Soccer Adult Provincial Cup Finals and feature Inter FC of the Vancouver Metro Soccer League who were defeated by EDC Burnaby from the Vancouver Metro Soccer League 3-1. The MVP for the match was Habib Mohammed. The closely matched teams took extra time to decide a winner where a penalty kick and a counter attack put EDC Burnaby up by two.  EDC Burnaby will now move onto the Canada Soccer Club Nationals in October.
