In Memory of Dave Fryatt


It is with our deepest condolences that BC Soccer has learned of the passing of Canada Soccer life Member and twice BC Soccer President, Dave Fryatt. Dave Fryatt served as the President of BC Soccer from 1955-1961 and 1975-1986 and he served as the Canada Soccer President From 1963-64.

“Dave Fryatt dedicated his life to the game of soccer, both in this province and in this country and he will forever be missed,” said Roger Barnes, BC Soccer President. “He is a member of the Soccer Hall of Fame, BC Sports Hall of Fame and held many roles within BC Soccer and Canada Soccer and we want to wish his family the best during these difficult times.”

Dave Fryatt was born in Chilliwack BC in 1921 and at the age of 34 he became the BC Soccer President. He served as the BC Soccer President twice and was also part of the Canadian Delegation that toured the Souviet Union and United Kingdom in 1960.   Throughout his life Dave Fryatt also held many positions at Canada Soccer including; President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Head of Finance before serving on the Canadian Delegation for a second time.

Dave Fryatt was awarded the BC Soccer Life Member award in 1980 and in 1993 he was awarded the BC Soccer Aubrey Sanford Award. Furthermore, Fryatt was the recipient of the Government of Canada’s Centennial Medal in 1967 and was honored with a Canada Soccer Life Member award, a Canada Soccer Aubrey Sandford Meritious Service Award and a Canada Soccer Presidents Award.  

BC Soccer would like to wish the entire Fryatt family the best during this time and would also like to thank them for the incredible dedication to soccer that Dave Fryatt showed.  A dedication that undoubtedly strengthened the soccer community both locally and nationally.
