Three BC Soccer Referees Head Down to Texas to the Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup

 

BC Soccer partners with Manitoba Soccer Association to include an additional Referee at the international youth tournament

Vancouver BC, April 11, 2014 – Three BC Soccer referees; Juan Marquez, Erina Cho, and Jas Parr are heading down the Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup to referee one of North America’s largest and prestigious international youth soccer tournaments. Partnering with BC Soccer this year is the Manitoba Soccer Association who will have one of their elite referees, Anthony Alexander, joining the three from BC Soccer at the Dallas Cup.

“Being invited back to have our referee’s be a part of the Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup is an honor and the experience that all of the referees, will gain from refereeing such an elite tournament is tremendous,” said Jose Branco, BC Soccer Referee Coordinator. “Working and collaborating with the Manitoba Soccer Association (MSA) to allow more Canadian referees to take part in the Dallas Cup has also been amazing and we look forward to working with the MSA and other provincial soccer associations in the future to help young aspiring referees develop and hone their skills.”

The Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup runs from April 13-20, 2014 and is one of North America’s largest youth soccer tournaments. Over the years the Dallas Cup has seen the likes of David Beckham, Landon Donovan, Wayne Rooney, Michael Bradley and other world class soccer players compete at the tournament.  The Cup is also an invite only tournament, meaning that teams must be invited to compete at the cup which sees more than 100,000 spectators throughout the week.

“The Manitoba Soccer Association (MSA) would like to thank the BC Soccer Association following our association to partner with them in sending an MSA official to the Dallas Cup as part of their travelling referee group,” said Dennis Petrelli, Manitoba Soccer Association Referee Development Coordinator. “The cooperation and assistance afforded to us by the BCSA will allow our association to benefit from the established relationship the BCSA Referee Department shares with organizers of the Dallas Cup.”
