Three more Clubs Achieve Standard 1 of the BC Soccer Club Charter Program

achieve Standard 1 of the BC Soccer Club Charter Program! 

Vancouver BC, February 22, 2018 – BC Soccer is pleased to announce that three more clubs, West Vancouver Soccer Club, Central City Breakers Football Club, and Surrey Soccer Club, have achieved Standard 1 of the BC Soccer Club Charter Program. The program is based on meeting Administrative, Technical, and Governance criteria. The criteria and the program were created to help assure players, parents, coaches, and administrators that their club is operating and meeting a set of on- and off-field standards.  

“Having West Vancouver Soccer Club, Central City Breakers Football Club, and Surrey Soccer Club achieve Standard 1 of the BC Soccer Club Charter Program is fantastic and I want to thank each one of these clubs and all of their volunteers and staff for the hard work that they put into reaching this standard," said Kjeld Brodsgaard, BC Soccer President.

West Vancouver Soccer Club

The West Vancouver Soccer Club began in the 1920’s and has been involved in the promotion and development of soccer at the youth and adult age divisions in West Vancouver. They offer programming for players U5 all the way up through to adult programming as well as offering metro select programming for U13-18.

Central City Breakers Football Club

Central City Breakers Football Club operates out of Surrey, British Columbia and offers soccer programming for kids and adults of all ages.  Central City Breakers also hosts the BC Soccer Sanctioned Surrey Mayors Cup in March which sees more than 350 youth teams from Canada and the USA compete.

“Central City Breakers FC Board of Directors is excited to be able to accomplish the achievement of BC Soccer Club charter- standard one,” said Gary Purewal, Central City Breakers FC. “This will only help the club in achieving the highest standards in player development, governance and administration. Surrey Football Club

Surrey Football Club operates out of Surrey, British Columbia with programming for U3 all the way up to adult. Surrey Football Club works with a Club Philosophy, Technical Perspective, and Community Focus:

Club Philosophy - “To provide a player centered, coach driven environment which will ultimately empower the players and coaches to progress their knowledge, ability and lasting passion for the beautiful game of soccer.”

Technical Perspective - “Implementation of periodized expert player development programs, ongoing assessment systems, and coach education to ensure the advancement of each player throughout all stages of Canadian Soccer Associations, Long Term Player Development Pathway.”

Canada Soccer Club License Program & BC Soccer Club Charter Program

Canada Soccer has confirmed to BC Soccer that BC Soccer Club Charter Standard 1 clubs will be positioning accordingly within the new Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program once released. Thus, Canada Soccer wants all BC clubs to become BC Soccer Club Charter Standard 1 club and BC Soccer looks forward to continuing to work with all clubs to achieve the BC Soccer Club Charter 1.
