Two Men's Teams Crowned 2017 BC Soccer Provincial Champions

Pacific United LFC takes the Doug Day Cup with Club Inter taking the Mens A Cup


Vancouver BC, May 15, 2017 – BC Soccer crowned two adult men’s soccer teams Provincial Champions, this week with one team earning a berth into the Canada Soccer Club Nationals. The two Men’s Provincial Cup matches took place on Sunday May 14th, at Burnaby Lake.

“The provincial championships always make for some exciting matches and I want to congratulate all four teams that played in the finals today,” said Rob Brown, BC Soccer VP of Adult. “I also want thank the BC Soccer Adult Competitions Committee for all the work in which the put in.”

The Men’s Championships kicked off on Sunday at 12:30 P.M. in Burnaby with the final match of the BC Soccer Adult Provincial Cup Finals taking place at 3:00 P.M.

The Doug Day Cup (U21) featured West Van FC who were defeated by Pacific United LFC League 2-1. The MVP from West Van FC was Nick Park while Surajvir Basi won the MVP for Pacific United. This was a very exciting and close match as Pacific United lead most of the game 1-0 until West Van FC scored a late tying goal. However, Pacific United responded only moments before the final whistle to take the match 2-1. 

The Men’s A Cup featured Club Inter from the Vancouver Metro Soccer League who defeated by Aldergrove United of the Fraser Valley Soccer League. The MVP’s for the match were Brett Wiens for Aldergrove United and goalkeeper Erman Ozkan for Club Inter whose penalty shot save, early on in the game, was the highlight of the match. Club Inter will head off to the Canada Soccer Western National Championships in October of 2017 which is being held in Langley at Willoughby Fields in October
 Concluding over the weekend were also four men’s semi-final matches. On Saturday May 13, NVFC Storm defeated the Fraser Valley Red Devils in a semi-final of the Keith Millar Cup while on Sunday May 14 Poco FC Royals defeated the Vancouver Green Caps in the other Semi-final.  Both of the Deryl Hughes semi-final matches happened on Sunday May 14 as Crotia SC defeated PCOV in one match and Metro Ford PCE defeated Cowichan 49ers in the other.  

Both the Keith Millar Cup and the Deryl Hughes Cup Finals will take place at Burnaby Lake West on May 28th.  A live stream will be available and viewable at:
