Wishing the best to everyone involved in the 2022 BCSPL kick-off weekend

Following two years of disruption, BC’s standards-based youth development league is back with games this weekend in communities around the province.

February 25th, 2022 – Vancouver BC

12 rounds of action for both boys and girls commence this weekend (weather cooperating of course) as the BC Soccer Premier League returns to action for players aged U13-U18.

In the U13 age group, 12 clubs are now represented, following the recent expansion by TSS, Vancouver United FC, North Vancouver FC and Langley United, in addition to Surrey FC in September 2020.   The league is excited to welcome Nanaimo United next year at this age group having achieved Canada Soccer’s National Youth Club Licensing requirements. New clubs entering the league will continue adding male and female teams at U13, while the previous teams graduate to U14 competition and so on, until they are represented at all age levels.

The last couple years have been challenging for all, and BC Soccer was pleased to apply for, and obtain, a targeted government grant to support province-wide leagues. The grant funding has allowed BC Soccer to waive the BCSPL Club/Team fees for the Fall 2021 and the upcoming Spring for 2022. This was in addition to the wider refunds BC Soccer provided to the members over the last couple years to try and help with our collective focus on business resumption as we move through the pandemic.

The Association is thrilled that we are seeing full competition at this level again and hope everyone associated with the league will work hard to create positive soccer experiences for its participants.
