2023 Canada Soccer Western Master Regional Championships

The 2023 Masters Regional Championships in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was a showcase of soccer sportsmanship, highlighting the spirit of “soccer for life” that inspires the competition.

The 2023 Masters Regional Championships in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was a showcase of soccer sportsmanship, highlighting the spirit of “soccer for life” that inspires the competition. Over the course of three action-packed days, teams battled it out in both the Women's and Men's divisions. Let's recap the highs and lows of this exciting tournament. 

The tournament kicked off on a high note as the BC Women's Team, known as Castaways FC from Vancouver Island, faced off against Manitoba. Despite a strong performance that saw them dominate the game, the result remained unaltered for a 0-0 tie. The BC Men's side, Inter EDC, had a different story. The Men's Team put on a show, winning 3-1 against Manitoba with a tenacious play that had spectators on the edge of their seats. 

Saturday brought more intense action as the BC Women's Team squared off against Alberta. A win in this crucial match would put them at the top of their group and one step closer to the semi-finals. Although they fought valiantly, they fell short in a hard-fought game, losing 2-1 to Alberta. The BC Men's Team, following their impressive performance the previous day, faced Alberta. In another gripping encounter, they managed to secure a 2-2 draw, setting the stage for an exciting showdown in their next match against Saskatchewan. 

On the final day of the tournament, Castaways FC faced a 2-1 loss against Ontario, finishing in a respectable 4th place. Their grace and sportsmanship throughout the competition left a lasting impression. Inter EDC final match against Saskatchewan was nothing short of explosive, featuring end-to-end action. Although the game ended in a 1-1 draw, it was a testament to the team's passion and skill. Ultimately, the team secured a well-deserved silver medal, narrowly missing out on the gold due to goal differential. 

BC Soccer is proud of both squads who demonstrated incredible support for each other, cheering from the sidelines and fostering a sense of unity for representing BC! Congratulations to both teams for their commitment, passion and display of enjoyment!
