Appointment of Tamara Van den Brink to Vacant Director-At-Large Position

BC Soccer Board of Directors has appointed Tamara Van den Brink to serve on the BC Soccer Board of Directors as Director-at-large until the 2025 Annual General Meeting.

Tamara will be filling the vacancy left by Andrea Benton, who has recently stepped down from her role. The Board extends gratitude to Andrea for her work during her time with the association.

In alignment with the BC Soccer Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Plan and the recommendations made by the Canadian Sport Governance Code, the Board utilized the candidate list, competency profile knowledge, skills, experience, and diversity when considering candidates to the position. A diverse Board of Directors brings varied perspectives, lived experiences, and competencies to the table, enabling better decision-making, better representation of the participant base across BC, and more innovative solutions. Diversity in leadership helps ensure our sport is reflective of the athletes, volunteers, coaches and officials it serves, fostering growth, fairness, and inclusivity at all levels.

Tamara Van den Brink is dedicated to making a positive impact in her community and supporting organizations through her diverse skill set. As Regional Vice President, Private Banking with ScotiaBank, Tamara is a leader who believes in creating a feedback culture that supports meaningful people development and podium results. With two sons who are avid and high-level soccer players, Tamara has had the opportunity to connect with many individuals involved in the sport. Her journey in soccer includes coaching her sons' teams, managing their BCSPL team, and serving as a director on the board of a local soccer club.

Tamara's values align closely with those of BC Soccer. She is passionate about ensuring everyone has access to play soccer and is committed to helping the organization achieve success in line with its strategic plan. Her daily purpose is to support others, and she believes in the importance of listening to the needs of members and making progress to meet those needs. She recently completed her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Leadership and a Certificate in Applied Psychology, enhancing her ability to understand people's needs and lead innovation and change effectively. After serving the BC Soccer Board of Directors in 2023, Tamara is excited to bring her experience and dedication back to BC Soccer, where she aims to provide effective governance and ensure the organization's ongoing operational, functional, and financial success.
