BC clubs kick-off inaugural Player Development Program Championships
Inaugural Player Development Program (PDP) Championships will be held in Edmonton, AB at Bill Gilhespy Sports Complex from August 14-18.
PDP competition is comprised of the U-15 and U-17 age groups for both Girls and Boys and is the highest level of competition for youth standards-based leagues across Canada.
Eight teams from eight different clubs will be representing BC at the competition, following the qualification via the British Columbia Soccer Premier League (BCSPL). This makes the first time standards-based youth leagues across the country will compete. This includes the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL), the Québec Youth Soccer Premier League (PLSJQ), and the Alberta Player Development League (APDL).
In the U-15 Divisions, BC will be represented by Coastal FC (Girls) and North Vancouver FC (Girls), as well as Surrey United SC (Boys) and Surrey FC (Boys). In the U-17 Divisions, Langley United SA (Girls), Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC (Girls), Fusion FC (Boys) and Burnaby FC (Boys) will be representing the province.
Canada Soccer’s PDP Championship provides a platform for Canada’s brightest youth players, both on and off the pitch. During the competition, the Men’s and Women’s Youth National Teams staff will be on site to both watch the Championships and present to participating Players and Coaches.
These presentations will focus on the Youth National Teams player pathways, player profiles, playing philosophies, and training methodologies. The presentations will also offer an opportunity to players and coaches to interact and ask questions directly to Youth National Teams staff.
