BC Representation at 2023 Futsal Canadian Championships

For the first time, BC Soccer is sending Provincial representatives to the 2023 Futsal Canadian Championships kicking off April 13-16 in Calgary, AB.

The 2023 Futsal Canadian Championships is scheduled for 13 to 16 of April 2023 at Seven Chiefs Sportsplex in Calgary, AB. This year will be the first time that British Columbia will be represented in both the men’s and women’s competitions.

Representing British Columbia in the Women’s 2023 Futsal Canadian Championships will be NIFA Pacific FC. NIFA’s vision from the onset has been to see aboriginal athletes competing nationally and internationally while supporting and guiding players through this journey. With this accomplishment, NIFA Pacific FC not only achieves the goal of competing on the National stage but provides a new generation of Futsal players with a platform to showcase their talents.

NIFA Pacific will compete against Ontario, Yukon, and Nunavut in the first round of group play in Calgary.

On the men’s side, B.C. will be represented by Surrey-based Pacific Futsal. The 14-man roster is comprised of local futsal enthusiasts and new Canadian’s alike, and will be grouped with teams from Quebec, Manitoba, and Yukon.

The Futsal Canadian Championship has been hosted annually since 2015, with a brief pause when the competition was put on hold for two-years between 2020 and 2021 because of the worldwide coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic before making its return in April 2022.

Futsal is a fast-paced indoor sport played across Canada and around the world. BC Soccer is committed to the growth and promotion of the game in both local communities and through Provincial competition. At the elite club level, BC Soccer supports domestic competition through the annual BC Soccer Futsal Provincial Qualifier into the Canada Soccer Futsal Canadian Championship.
