BC Senior Games Society Agreement Marks Commitment to Long-Term Participation

BC Soccer is proud to partner with the BC Seniors Games Society (BCSGS) to support lifelong participation in soccer through community-driven programs, adaptive formats, and strategic partnerships. This collaboration ensures that soccer remains an accessible, inclusive, and engaging sport for individuals of all abilities and ages.

The BCSGS annually hosts the 55+ BC Games, a multi-sport event organized and hosted by various communities across British Columbia. Each host community selects a minimum of 20 sports from the BCSGS’s approved Sport Selection List for the 12 regional zones within the province to participate in.

Zones coordinate sport development clinics and introductory events for new and novice members to explore various sports. These clinics and events are conducted annually to maintain the competitiveness and dedication of participants.

Through the collaborative partnership with BCSGS, BC Soccer plays a pivotal role in facilitating access to soccer opportunities for individuals at all skill levels. In tandem with host communities, we provide comprehensive officiating support, establish structured competitions, and offer development resources. Furthermore, we actively promote BCSGS events and clinics to our members, fostering a broader spectrum of participation and engagement throughout British Columbia.

Acknowledging that players’ abilities and interests evolve over time, BC Soccer advocates for adaptable formats that facilitate continuous participation in the sport. This encompasses modified rules, walking soccer, and specialized clinics. Our objective is to ensure that all participants can derive the physical and social advantages associated with the game.

This year, the 55+ BC Games will be held in Nanaimo from September 9th to 13th and will feature three distinct soccer competitions. Further details on the of the BCSGS 55+ Games can be found at the following link (https://55plusbcgames.org/).
