BC Soccer Announces Transitions within Development staff
BC Soccer today announced upcoming staff transitions within its development department, as Rob Csabai and Mike Salmon prepare to conclude their roles with the association.
After more than two decades contributing to BC Soccer’s technical and coach development department, most recently as Interim Director of Soccer Development, Rob Csabai will depart the organization on March 4, 2026, and transition into a new role with a local club, continuing his commitment to supporting grassroots and high‑performance soccer in British Columbia.
Mike Salmon will conclude his work with BC Soccer on March 20, 2026, following several years of service supporting the BCSPL, Provincial Program, and the broader player development pathway. Mike will return to the United Kingdom for personal reasons.
“Mike and Rob have made a meaningful impact on soccer development in British Columbia,” said Gabriel Assis, BC Soccer CEO. “Their dedication to coach education, player development, and their passion for supporting players and clubs across the province have been invaluable. We thank them for their service and wish them every success in their next chapters.”
Reflecting on his tenure, Rob Csabai shared: “I step away with immense pride and gratitude for my time with BC Soccer. I am deeply thankful to the staff, past and present, Senior Leadership, and Board members whose commitment shaped the meaningful impact we achieved together. It has been a privilege to support the growth of our coaches and players and to help strengthen our development pathways. I leave with optimism for what lies ahead for BC Soccer and for myself as I continue my passion for coach education.”
Mike Salmon added: “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities, guidance, and support I’ve received throughout my time at BC Soccer. Working alongside such dedicated staff has been a privilege. I’ve learned a tremendous amount, grown both personally and professionally, and value the relationships and experiences built along the way.”
BC Soccer’s development system continues to evolve, supported by new coach education initiatives, a modernized club licensing framework, and an enhanced provincial player ecosystem. To ensure continuity, a transition plan is underway, and recruitment for key technical and development roles has begun in alignment with the organization’s long term priorities.
Further updates will be shared in the coming days as BC Soccer builds on its momentum and continues to invest in the systems that strengthen pathways, support member organizations, and elevate the game across British Columbia.
