BC Soccer Board of Directors Leadership Transition and Upcoming Elections

BC Soccer announces that Vice-President, Lisa Murray, will be stepping down from the Board of Directors, effective June 30, 2025. Lisa has accepted a new professional opportunity and will be relocating to Alberta as of July 1, 2025.

BC Soccer would like to thank Lisa for her dedication and contributions to BC Soccer and wish her continued success in her future endeavors.

In accordance with BC Soccer Bylaw 6.13, Lisa’s departure will create a vacancy in the Vice-President position. To address this vacancy, and following consultation with the Nominations Committee, the Board of Directors opened a nomination period for current Board Members to either self-nominate or be nominated for the Vice-President role.

The Board of Directors has appointed Ralph Luongo as new Vice-President, effective July 1st, 2025 and until the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) in November.

This process results in a temporary vacancy for the Vice-President Adult on the Board. In alignment with the BC Soccer Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Plan and the recommendations made by the Canadian Sport Governance Code, the Board will utilize a candidate list, competency profile knowledge, skills, experience, and diversity when considering candidates for this position. The Nominations Committee will submit recommendations for selection, and the successful candidate will serve until the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in November. As part of the governance modernization, in 2025 the Board will transition to a structure of 11 Board Members, retiring the Vice-President Adult position.

2025 BC Soccer AGM – Upcoming Elections

At the 2025 AGM in November, the following positions will be up for election by the Voting Members:

  • Vice-President (2-year term – to complete the current term)
  • Director-at-Large (3-year term)
  • Director-at-Large (3-year term)

Additionally, the Board will appoint one Director-at-Large for a 3-year term.
