BC Soccer Introduces Technical Service Plan

BC Soccer introduces its inaugural 2023 Technical Service Plan for player, coach, and referee development

As part of Goal 5; "Coach, Player and Referee Development" within BC Soccer’s Strategic Plan 2024, BC Soccer is pleased to announce the newly formulated Technical Service Plan.

The service plan has been designed in consultation with the BC Soccer Membership through the 2021 technical survey and with the BC Soccer, Soccer Development Committee from 2019-2022 and is in alignment with Canada Soccer technical standards. The plan is designed to support the delivery of player, coach, and referee development within all playing environments within the BC Soccer system, primarily focused on all clubs regarding of the leagues and competitive environment they participate in. The plan is intended to be delivered on a yearly basis and further evolved over time to meet the ever-changing needs and demands of technical program delivery in BC.

BC Soccer’s development department has developed technical resources which include player, team, and coach profile documents that are aligned to sample session plans, all working within a wider curriculum. As well as a referee profile (coming September 2023) and the sharing of Canada Soccer referee development resources. To ensure better understanding of the resources and how they be implemented, Soccer Development Staff have developed workshops and club support meetings to support wider access to this information for technical leads, coaches, and referee instructors across the province.

“We want to provide further support and guidance around technical standards and program delivery to our members. The service plan will allow us to re-engage with the membership and provide opportunities for soliciting feedback through surveying and from a variety of workshops/forums. The aim is for this plan to be the staple of what BC Soccer does in grassroots/community environments in harmony with the membership” Chris Cerroni, Director of Soccer Development, BC Soccer.
