BC Soccer Provincial Program ID Weekend

Inaugural Identification weekend takes place May 20 & 21 at Gates Park Port Coquitlam.

BC Soccer’s Provincial Program is designed to support player development and identification for the female and male players in the Under 15 to Under 18 age groups. The Program collaborates closely with the BC Premier League (BCSPL), the highest level of community/development soccer in BC, to help identify players and coaches to participate in the Program.

Supporting player progression to higher levels of play is a primary focus of the Program. Thus, BC Soccer is pleased to welcome identified players from Grade 10 (2007 born) and Grade 11 (2006 born) that participate in the BCSPL, to the 2023 Identification Weekend. The event provides an added opportunity for University/College, Semi-Professional, and Professional to view the talent within the Program, and provided at no cost to the participants.

Approximately 130 players (64 female and 64 male) from a pool of over 700 will be selected by BC Soccer’s Provincial Program staff for the weekend’s activities and includes those that are already participating in the BC Soccer Provincial Program. The event takes place the May 20-21, 2023 weekend at Gates Park in Port Coquitlam.

To support the identification process and event logistics, BC Soccer is pleased to have Ryan Clark as BC Soccer’s University Transition Lead. Ryan also works with the Vancouver Whitecaps MLS Academy and BC REX program and players.

“Ryan has experience over multiple decades in working with players and their families that aspire to progress into collegiate levels of play. We are pleased to have him help us introduce this event and build it in the years ahead, along with supporting year-round visibility of our Provincial Program players to post-secondary coaches”. Chris Cerroni, Director of Soccer Development, BC Soccer.
