Insurance Coverage for Teams Traveling to the USA/Abroad

Recent changes to BC Soccer's Insurance Coverage will affect teams traveling to the USA and other international destinations. Please review the following information to ensure compliance and coverage for your team.

In accordance with BC Soccer Insurance Coverage, there are some key updates regarding coverage for team travel to the USA and internationally for games or training. The BC Soccer insurance policy (Commercial & General Liability and Sport Accident) is valid only in Canada. Please review the information carefully to ensure you have appropriate insurance coverage for your team while you travel outside of Canada.

Guidelines for Insurance Coverage:

  • General Liability Insurance (CGL) Extension for Travel to the USA/Abroad:
  • Teams traveling outside Canada should apply for a CGL extension specific to the USA or other international destinations. This is a separate endorsement and requires an additional fee.

Teams must:

    • Contact BC Soccer and submit the Application to Travel Out of Province form.
    • Once approved, email with SBC Insurance (info@sbcinsurance.com) to apply for the CGL extension and receive a quote.
  • Complete payment directly to SBC Insurance to secure the CGL coverage.
  • OptionalEmergency Travel Medical Insurance:

Please note that optional emergency travel medical coverage is not included in the BC Soccer insurance coverage. SBC Insurance is offering options for both individual and team coverage for purchase. You may review options for Optional Emergency Travel Medical Insurance via https://partner.battleface.com/bc-soccer/

Updated Travel Permits:

Teams traveling to the USA or abroad must use the Updated Travel Permits when applying for travel approval. The form must be submitted to BC Soccer at least 30 days before the first game for US travel and 6 months prior for destinations outside the US and Canada.

For further questions, please contact Farideh Zarei, BC Soccer Manager, Administration.
