League1 BC presented by HALL unveils trophies for August 1st Finals
Winners of both the women’s and men’s finals will etch their club’s name on a beautiful cedar award, with artwork designed by Nisga’a and Métis artist Chantelle Trainor-Matties.
League1 BC is proud to introduce the awards given during the inaugural finals, presented by HALL Constructors on BC Day, (Monday August 1st) at Swangard Stadium. BC artist Chantelle Trainor-Matties, who specializes in graphic design, painting and murals, created custom artwork for the league’s cedar legacy trophy. Trainor-Matties had League1 BC’s logo and “Rise As One” tagline in mind when creating the custom artwork. She incorporated some of the forms that are the root of Northwest Coast formline such as the ovoid, “U” shape and trigon to create a complete and symmetrical design. To represent “rising”, she utilized U shapes to create a feather design. She also incorporated four points around the design, a call to the North Star, no matter which way the design is facing there is always a point facing upwards.
Chantelle’s designs are also etched into the keepsake awards, presented to the League1 BC regular season champions (first place) in both divisions, along with the winners of Monday’s finals.
League1 BC General Manager Sian Bagshawe is thrilled that a “made in BC” League will be awarding “made in BC” trophies; “We are so grateful that Chantelle was able to create such a meaningful design. It was important to us that our trophies represent the very best of what British Columbia is about, while commemorating the season long efforts of players and staff with awards that appropriately recognize their tremendous achievements and hard work.”
The League1 BC Finals presented by HALL kick off at 1:00pm for the women and 4:00pm for the men, with tickets available through this link. Adult admission is $20.00, while any youth (under 18) wearing their club jersey will be admitted for free. Comprehensive match coverage and commentary will be streamed on HomeTeam live.
