Lisa White joins BC Soccer as the new Sporting Director

BC Soccer welcomes Lisa White as Sporting Director, effective January 20th, 2025. Lisa joins the Senior Leadership Team, overseeing the Soccer Development Department.

A native of Aldergrove, British Columbia, Lisa's journey in soccer began when she joined her older brothers' practices and quickly found her own place on the field. Lisa's impressive career spans multiple sports and roles. As a multisport athlete in the Fraser Valley, she balanced her commitments with the support of her school and club. She went on to shine at Trinity Western University (TWU), where she was part of a National Championship-winning team and began her coaching career. Her journey took her to Concordia University in Nebraska, where she earned her first master's degree and a National Coaching license.

"It is an incredible time to be a part of the soccer community and the sporting community at large in BC. We are seeing massive shifts in sport on how we engage, support, and participate. As the light shines brighter on sport, that same light is revealing some of the spaces where additional work hast yet to be done. I am looking forward to learning how to be relevant and connected to the 150,000 members of our community. I am thrilled to accept the role of Sporting Director for BC Soccer and humbled by the sheer volume of folks in this province who value this captivating game.” said Lisa White.

Returning to Vancouver, Lisa pursued further education at the University of British Columbia (UBC), gaining her second master's degree and invaluable experience with the Vancouver Whitecaps (MLS) men's team, contributing to their first Canadian Championship win in 2015. She also served as an Assistant Coach for the UBC Women's soccer team. In her role at BC Soccer, Lisa will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to CEO Gabriel Assis.

"Lisa's extensive experience across multiple levels will be an invaluable asset to our organization, our members, and our affiliated clubs. As a home-grown talent with a deep- passion for the sport, she is exceptionally well-equipped to lead our development programs across the province ahead of such exciting times for soccer in BC!” said Gabriel Assis.

For the past eight years, Lisa has been the Athletic Performance Lead and Leadership Development Coach at St. George’s School in Vancouver, supporting student-athletes and coaches across various sports. Her qualifications include a CONCACAF ‘A’ Diploma, Advanced Coaching Diploma, and the Charter Professional Coach (ChPC) designation from the Coaching Association of Canada. Lisa's diverse experiences as a player, coach, and official have shaped her leadership and coaching philosophy focusing on fostering problem-solvers, initiative-takers, and community builders.

Lisa will join the BC Soccer staff on January 20, 2025, as the head of the Soccer Development Department. In this role, she will provide strategic leadership in planning, executing, and evaluating soccer activities, services, and programs throughout British Columbia.
