Tournament Preview: 2026 Adult Provincial Championships- Part 2

The 2026 Adult Provincial Championships kick off April 10th, here is everything you need to know about the competition. 

On the Women's side, there are three different age categories. Women's A-Cup and B-Cup, open to players of any age, and Masters B-Cup for Women over the age of 30. 

As this is a provincial Championship, teams are qualifying from across the province. The MWSL, LIWSA, and MIWSL are all women's soccer competitions that compete in a league season to qualify for the Provincial Championships. 

On April 1st, the Provincial Draw was held at the BC Sports Hall of Fame at BC Place to lay out the path to provincial Glory.

 After a closely contested season, the top seed from the Premier Division of the MWSL has emerged as Coquitlam Metro Ford’s Premier Team. TWU Spartans highlighted the strength of the university pathway, pairing one of the league’s top defensive records with a third-place finish. Last year’s finalist Coastal FC and Surrey United x Unity rounded out the top positions, demonstrating the integration between the development pathway within the league.

Surrey United x Unity are also represented in the B Cup, once again demonstrating the strength of the player development pathway at Surrey United with its BCSPL, BCPL, FVSL and MWSL teams. The team also boasts the top scorer in the league Jacey Dudlets with 16 goals as well as the top goalkeeper, Alyssa Narayan, with 9 shutouts. Last year’s winner’s, SFC Pegasus, are back in the provincials this year after a 9th place finish. Last year’s cup run saw them win the entire tournament despite finishing sixth that year.  

 

Masters B- Cup

The Port Moody Gunners won their second straight Masters division in a nail biting title race against last year’s provincial cup champions PCOV. The two teams faced off again in the Masters Cup final on March 29 at Burnaby Lake West, which the Gunners won as well.

Serial LIWSA champions and last year’s Provincial A Cup winner Gorge FC will aim to defend their title this year off the back of a strong LIWSA season. Gorge faced off against second placed Nanaimo United in the Terry Price Cup Final on March 21, which Nanaimo won.

Lakehill and Gorge United both qualified as their divisions’ respective champions, with Lakehill winning the Selects pool by a commanding 14 points. Castaways sees strong representation with two teams after good showings in their pool as well as an appearance by Castaways Young Guns in the Doug Day cup final on March 21.  

 

Women's Masters B-Cup

Castaways United narrowly won the league by 3 points over last year’s league and Provincial Cup winners Gorge FC. Despite Castaways triumph in the league, the Gorge O30 team competed in the open-age Doug Day Cup Final on March 21, coming out victorious.

Port Alberni Tickity Boots 

The Nanaimo Thrive have the golden boot winner, Jamie MacFarlane (18 goals) and the Golden Glove winner, Hilary Andow (4.5 Clean Sheets) and won the league over Port Alberni Athletics by a margin of 8 points.
