Referees

Annual Registration

Referees must renew their license on an annual basis. All Referee licenses expire on March 31st of the current year and must be renewed on an annual basis.

Annual Refresher

As a component of the Registration process to renew your Referee license, every official, with the exception of Small Sided (Grade 1) Referees, must attend an Annual Referee Refresher. By attending an Annual Referee Refresher, your license will automatically renew on April 1st of the current year and will remain active until March 31st of the following year. The province conducts Refreshers for Coastal and Interior Referees during different periods of the year:

Region

Time Period

Coastal Annual Refreshers

August - November

Interior Annual Refreshers

January - March

Registration & Renewal Process

  1. Register for an Annual Refresher in your RefCentre Account.
  2. Pay the Registration Fee.
  3. Attend and complete the Annual Referee Refresher.

After paying and completing an Annual Referee Refresher, your license will automatically renew on April 1st of the current year – the new expiration date will appear after April 1st on your RefCentre account.

If you are a Small Sided Referee, you will not be required to attend an Annual Referee Refresher. The process to renew a Small Sided Referee license is by completing a Refresher Examination and paying the registration fee. Once this is complete, your license will automatically renew on April 1st of the current year – the new expiration date will appear after April 1st on your RefCentre account.

Note: If you recently upgraded from a Small Sided to an Entry Level Referee, you do not need to renew your Small Sided license – registration under the Small Sided (Grade 1) account is not required. Please login using your Entry Level (Grade 5) account credentials and complete the Registration and Renewal Process listed above.

If a Referee in any classification wishes to return but has not registered over the past two (2) years, they will be required to complete an entry examination as a component of their Registration & Renewal Process listed above. For more information, please email Hagen Herold at hagenherold@bcsoccer.net to complete the entry examination.

All Referees aged 19 years and older must have a valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check on file with BC Soccer. This means that if you are 19 years of age or older, you will be required to comply with the policy in order to continue officiating in BC Soccer sanctioned activity.  You’ll find all the details and options of obtaining a Criminal Record Check here.
